WORKSHOPS
These workshops offer a behind-the-scenes look at how detailed cutaway illustrations are created, drawing on my experience working on major sci-fi franchises. Through a short talk and film, I introduce the process of designing complex fictional machines - how they are imagined, structured, and brought to life with clarity and precision.
The aim is to demystify the work while showing that even the most intricate designs begin with simple ideas and careful observation.
The session then moves into a hands-on drawing activity, where participants take a classic sci-fi vehicle and explore what’s happening inside it.
The focus is on creativity, problem-solving and visual storytelling, encouraging students to think about function as well as form. Workshops can be adapted for different age groups and abilities, and work equally well in schools, clubs, and community settings. The emphasis is always on making the process engaging, accessible, and enjoyable, while giving participants a real insight into professional creative practice.
