FILM
Passionate about cinema, John has been making films since his school days. He studied Visual Arts and Literature at Staffordshire University, leaning heavily into modules on cinema, and in the early stages of his career, worked as a storyboard artist and art department crew member ( including a season on Teletubbies ). In the last decade John has made films in conjunction with studios such as 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm showcasing the production process behind his cutaway art for ALIEN, STAR WARS and HALO.
A passion for the relationship between film-making and music is evident in all of John’s work. The film ‘The Joy and The Wonder’ - an ambitious music video written, produced, directed and edited by John made with his former band Last Picture Show, won several film festival laurels including BEST MUSIC VIDEO at the 2021 Hollywood Art and Movie Awards film festival.
John was an active environmental campaigner with SOAR producing several short films which helped to secure a landmark decision for his local community of East Reading in 2018, protecting the Thames Path from development. He also created a short film for a funding application which was instrumental in securing £4million worth of special needs care in 2019.
He has a strong network of film-making colleagues and as producer can pull together a crew to deliver for a wide variety promotional film requirements.
His latest film is his first collaboration with Lucasfilm/ Disney and DK Publishing and showcases the process behind his latest cutaway artwork commissioned for the Mandalorian Visual Guide.
John is currently in pre-production on his debut narrative short due to shoot in 2027.

APC CUTAWAY - SPECIAL EDITION ( 2015 )
Detailed film documenting the creation of John’s cutaway art of the iconic APC from Aliens. This extended special edition cut features a reference material sequence, a digital techniques section, 13 minutes of original soundtrack by Last Picture Show and a gallery of all the artworks John produced for Insight Editions' book 'Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report' in collaboration with Alien blueprints artist Graham J. Langridge. Soundtrack composed and recorded by John with Last Picture Show.

ALIEN EIGHT: TIME LAPSE (2022)
John creates eight artworks of iconic ships and hardware from Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Incredible time-lapse photography captures the entire process: using a lightbox to set up each artwork, then refining and detailing each piece with pencil, before inking and applying multiple watercolour washes and gouache to achieve the highly-detailed end paintings.
